Judith Fitch Obituary

FITCH

Judith A.

Judith A. (Kimple) Fitch passed away peacefully on April 24, 2014, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. Judith was born September 22, 1939, to parents Lloyd

and Constance Kimple. She

attended DeVilbiss High School.

Judith married and started her family at a young age. While raising her children and working, she finished her education at the University of Toledo, attaining her Master of Arts, specializing in international finance.

Judith worked for the

Andersons in Maumee, Ohio from 1972 until her retirement in 2002. Her positions included working as a commodity broker and grain merchant. Judith was a well-respected and prominent businesswoman. She served on various leadership committees including the Andersons Company Chair for the United Way and a board member of the Maumee Valley Girl Scouts. Judith was an influential mentor for many women and a strong advocate for women's education and empowerment in the workplace. In 1981, Judith was an honoree of the Tribute to Women and Industry (TWIN) Award, sponsored by the YWCA. She later served as a general Chair for the TWIN Award.

Judith married the love of her life, Marion F. Fitch, on February 4, 1979. They met while attending classes at

UT, both pursuing higher

educations. They traveled the world for the next twenty-five years, learning about and

experiencing the cultures of over one hundred countries.

Judith was a member of the Church of St. Andrew UMC. Her faith in God and service to others led to her involvement in the church. Judy served as lay leader and president of the memorial committee for many years.

Judy was a vivacious, beautiful and loving woman. She had many interests and

numerous good friends. Her closest friends included members of her book, dinner, knitting clubs. Her hobbies included gardening, going to the movies and knitting beautiful clothing for herself and family.

Judith was a loving and

generous mother and grandmother. She helped shape the lives of her children and grandchildren to be the best they could be. Her family dearly loved her and will

always be grateful for her unconditional love.

In addition to her parents, Judith was preceded in death by her husband, Marion;

previous husbands, Harry Brigham and John Watson; sister, Kathleen Saari and son-in-law, John Krontz. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Dr. Steven C. (Krishni) Brigham; daughter, Amy

L. Krontz; brother, David (Darlene) Kimple; grandchildren, John and Kaitlyn Krontz, Elizabeth and Abigail Brigham, Jacob (Clare) Spafford, Stephanie Spafford, Sarah Gould; stepdaughters, Judi (Warren) Gould, Victoria (Hanson) Holmes; great-grandchildren, Connor Gould, Griffin and Ava Spafford.

Judith will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She touched many lives with her intelligence, zest for life and loving nature.

Friends may call at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave. on Sunday, April 27, 2014, from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Church of St. Andrew UMC, 3620 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, Pastor Laura Bensman officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Judith's memory may be given to the church.

The family would like to thank the Dana Center at UTMC and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the

exceptional care they gave Judith.

I grew up across the street from Judy and her family. Being the same age, we walked to school together, went to movies, had ice cream at the Fairmont Pharmacy, and were confirmed together at Redeemer Lutheran Church. In recent years we tried to get to -gether for an occasional lunch. She always spoke of the pride she had in her wonderful family. She will be missed!

Judy was my cousin. She was a totally unique individual, extremely bright, constantly seeking the best in others, hard working, a woman who provided a wonderful life for herself and her loving family. My very first Toledo home was on Upton Avenue and cousins Kay, Judy and Dave lived across the street. Our families were very close. I always admired the way Judy forged ahead, studied, earned educational honors and continued along through her life setting a wonderful example for all, especially working women. We kept in close contact and Judy always laughed and responded with her own clever comeback when I would tease her or call her "little cuz." God bless, Judy! We will miss her. No one quite like Judy!

I am so sorry to here of the passing of Judith, I always enjoyed working with her as she was one of my poll workers at the Elections. Also knowing Marion and what a nice couple they were. I know she will be sadly missed but you want to always remember the good time and it lessens the sorrow.
My thoughts and Prayers are with you all.
