WEATHERS

Ernestine "Stina"

Ernestine Weathers passed this life on Sunday, April 27, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family. "Stina" was born on January 15,

1957, to Ernest and Middie Weathers-Clayborne and they both preceded her in death.

"Stina" was a go-getter from birth, and accomplished so many things in her life that left many people in awe.

She attended the Toledo Public schools, Washington Elementary School and then graduated from Jesup W. Scot High School, class of 1975. She also attended the University of Toledo. "Stina" worked part-time at 13 News at the age of 17, while still pursuing her studies at Scott.

In 1979, she competed in the Miss Toledo Pageant and successfully won the title. She sang in various choirs throughout the city, Friendship Baptist Church; Scott High School; Clarence Smith Choir; and Indepence choir to name a few.

"Stina" also wrote several gospel songs and directed several Choirs throughout the city. She was also in several musical and theatrical plays throughout the years, even appearing at the Valentine Theater and Toledo Rep Theater. Her years at TV 13 News will be long remembered by her co-workers, whom she affectionately called her "extended family". She opened many doors at the station, including her own office, on several

occasions to let them come in and hide from the day-to-day stress. "Stina" ultimately gave 13 news, 39 years of loyal service.

"Stina" was preceded in death by both of her parents, Ernest Weathers and Middie Weathers Clayborne.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and faithful sister, Wanda (Michael) Clayborne of Holland, OH; brother, Leroy Lucius of Oregon, OH; nephews, Michael M. (Nikki) Clayborne, Michael M. (Keshawn D. Harper) Clayborne, all of Toledo; niece, Nyla Marie Clayborne of Toledo; loving god-mother, Margaret Truss; longtime friend, Reba Galloway

Diggins and a host other nieces, nephews, relatives and kind friends.

A Celebration of Ernestine's life will be held on Monday, May 5, 2014, at The House of Day Funeral Home. Wake starts at 1 p.m. and the Funeral starts at 2 p.m. with Bishop Duane Tisdale officiating.
