Alonzo Henry

Alonzo Henry Poll passed away June 18, 2014, at the age of 92. Born to Henry and Grace Poll, Lon lived his entire life in Toledo. He married Patricia Winters in 1943, and they recently celebrated 70 loving years together.

At the age of 19, Lon was drafted into the armed services during WWII and became a First Lieutenant serving as a navigator for the 9th Air Force in Europe. Upon returning home, he worked for his father's company, The H. Poll Electric Company and retired as President in 1979.

Lon was a lifetime member of Collingwood Presbyterian Church serving in many capacities. He was a 33rd degree Mason, was a member of the Royal Order of Jesters, and he enjoyed his monthly Gin Rummy Club, Hermits, and Wednesday Nooners. Lon was also active in, and served on the boards of many organizations throughout the Toledo community.

Alonzo was preceded in death by his brother, Richard M. Poll. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Richard W. Poll (Janet); daughters, Elizabeth Ziegler (Jeffrey), Katherine Looney (Craig), and Susan Poll; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Interment will be private. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Collingwood Presbyterian Church, 2108 Collingwood Blvd. Toledo, OH 43620. Friends may greet the family in the church dining room immediately following the service.
