Daniel J. Scsavnicki, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away June 27, 2014, at his home in South Toledo.
One of twelve siblings, Dan was born December 3, 1928, to Frank and Rose Scsavnicki. He was owner of Heatherdowns Sunoco for over 20 years, where he was known as a skilled and honest mechanic, building up a base of loyal customers over the years. Dan served in the United States Army during the Korean War. During his time in the Army, he served in the Honor Guard, was awarded the Bronze Star and also a Purple Heart.
Dan loved playing golf when he was younger and he and his wife, Dorothy, were members of Toledo Zoo for over 40 years, sharing their love of animals with their children first, then their grandchildren.
Dan is survived by four sons, Daniel K. (Kathy) of Houston, Texas, Alan, Charles (Edie), and Eric, and by his brothers, Emery (Ann) and Joseph (Delphine). Also surviving are five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy.
Family and friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., on Wednesday, July 2, from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3, in the mortuary at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
