Alice V. Szymczak, age 89, formerly of Maher Street in North Toledo, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 23, 2015, at the Sunset Retirement Village with her loving family by her side. She was born on May 5, 1926, in Toledo, Ohio to Frank and Bertha (Blaskiewicz) Kosmider. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a dedicated member of the church's choir, Altar Rosary Society and 55+ Club. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sylvania. Alice dedicated her life to caring for her family and home. A wonderful cook and baker, she was known for her pineapple slices and Polish coffee cakes (Placek). She was a devoted wife and mother as well as a loving grandmother and great-grandmother who always put the needs of others before her own.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Florian Szymczak on October 8, 2004, and brother, Frank Kosmider. She is survived by her children, Kenneth (Linda) Szymczak, Elaine (David) Dmytryka and Alan Szymczak; grandchildren, Kenneth Szymczak, Jennifer Price, Leslie (Tavis) Hissa and Kevin Dmytryka; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Price, Sawyer Price and Parker Hissa.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., with a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, Sylvania at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.

Memorial tributes may be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Alzheimer's Association. Condolences may be shared at
