Michael Piechowiak Obituary

PIECHOWIAK
Michael “Mike”
Michael “Mike” Piechowiak, 62, passed away at his residence with his family by his side on Monday, April 18, 2016, in Maumee, Ohio. He died of cancer that was diagnosed just over three weeks ago. Mike was born July 16, 1953 to Nicolina Tatti in Buffalo, New York. On September 3, 1977 he married the love of his life and best friend,
Stephanie Molineaux.
Survivors include his wife, Stephanie of 39 years. He leaves behind his 3 sons, Jason (wife Angie), Robert and Jacob. He also leaves behind his granddaughter, Avery, whom he loved and cherished more than anything in this world. He was the greatest dad 3 young men could ever ask for. Also surviving are his mother, Nicolina Tatti; brother and sister, Steve and Donna Piechowiak; and nephew, Nicholas Piechowiak.
Mike was a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan, and enjoyed taking his sons to Ralph Wilson stadium. Mike was a very active individual who spent a lot of his time exercising, teaching and coaching his sons in multiple sports. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and having a beer on the beach with his family and friends. Mike was always a great listener and friend who could light up the room with a good joke and his unique laughter. He's the type guy who you call whenever you needed a friend.
A special thanks to family friends, Jim and Cammie Dorton and Stephanie DeSanzo, we would not have been able to get through this without you.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. The family requests that you do not need to send flowers, but instead please make a donation to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be given at

Deepest sympathy to Mike's family during this sorrowful time. I had the greatest pleasure to know Mike many years ago during high school. There are just a few people you meet in life that leave a lasting impression and memories. Mike was one of them. He was always larger that life and always smiling. Our sorrow can not match yours but know he will be truly missed and loved.

Stephanie and Family, Harold and I can't even begin to express what lies within our hearts these last few days knowing the difficult decisions that have been placed before all of you with broken hearts. All we can do is ask the God of Creation to wrap His loving arms around each one of you and somehow help you to find some form of comfort and peace in the years of joys and happiness shared as a family! You have to know that Mike is looking down on all of you, with such pride and eternal peace, feeling the love and sorrow each one of you are experiencing because of his absence! He was a true gentlemen, caregiver and loving spirit! He will truly be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Stephanie, Jake, Rob, and Jason -

It greatly saddened Sharon and I when we heard the news about Mike from Jim. We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to get to meet all of you at Mac's wedding and Mike was a big part of that. Quite the character. People say I can yak. I'm a monk compared to Mike. What a fun cat!

I have no cool words of wisdom. I would just say remember how he made people feel at ease - even strangers like me - and that's a nice gift. Do the same for others.

Lean on Jim and Cam. I've been blessed to call them friends for 40 years. I don't have to tell you how special they are.

We'll pray for all of you and Mike.

April 20, 2016

To my big brother Michael, I could have never asked for a more amazing brother and person in my life. You have given me so much in my life. You taught me, to be strong , independent , gave me courage when I didn't think I could take another step . You raised me to be the women I am today and the parent I am. You will forever be in my heart . Our daily prayers together was the most precious gift , I was and will be your voice. You will never be forgotten . I will miss you with every breath I take but I know you will also be in my heart and guiding me in my life. I know you will watch over Nicholas everyday. Mama has you in her heart and will for ever . Steven is proud that you were his brother . Rest in peace my brother , fly high fly high , my sweet brother .

Dear Piechowiak Family-

I was a client of Mike's for the past several years. When he came to Chicago for a visit we made it a point to have lunch and catch up. Mike spent most of the lunch bragging about his family and how proud he was of his boys and his wife.

Becoming a grandfather was the icing on the cake for him and he loved showing me pictures of his new granddaughter.

Mike was a great salesman but more importantly Mike was a terrific person who knew how to treat people right.

I pray the Lord comforts all of you during this difficult time.

April 20, 2016

Mike, I met you and you treated me like one of your own. Took my teasing and teased me back. Listened to me when I spoke.
Smiled at me when i joked.
Around a campfire on an October night you emphasized partnership to a newly wed, and making it last.
YOU are SPECIAL to so many people, and I am lucky to be one of them.

Dear Pchow family,
Prayers are with you all. Our hearts are broken.
Love you all!

Stephanie,Jason,Rob & Jacob, prayers to you and all your family & friends. Sad news to hear of Mike's passing. I remember fondly all the time I spent talking football with Mike from St. Pat,s youth football through Maumee's State Football Playoffs. Great Dad to his boys and friend to all.
One of my favorite quotes from "Braveheart"...
"Every man dies...not every man really lives"
Mike REALLY LIVED, you can be proud knowing he lived a great life of family, sports, church, golf and being a great husband & Dad.

April 20, 2016

I met Mike years ago when he worked for Emdeon and then our sons played football together on different teams. He was so proud when he talked about his son and how well he played after Friday night football. Mike was a professional caring man and I am glad that I got to know him. He will be missed.

Sincerely,

Stephanie & sons, please accept my condolences on the passing of "Peaches"...I was active with him at St. Pat's in youth sports, and he was always phenomenal with the kids (and an exceptional athlete himself). Always cherish the time you had with him--he was a role model for us all...God Bless.

Stephanie: Mike was a good man. I trusted him during our business relationship and we had a lot of fun together. (although that golf swing of his was a little tough to watch at times)

Our Prayers are with you and the kids.

Stephanie, Jason, Robert and Jacob, I am so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I hold very cherished memories of him over the years since our Toledo days at WebMD. Mike will always have a special place in my heart. I'm still not sure who was less relaxed - him or me. But one thing in common, beer on the beach does help solve that issue. He is now with our Lord and at peace and our prayers are with your entire family.
