Barbara Walker

WALKER Barbara (Burns) Barbara Walker, age 75, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at her Sylvania home. Born in Toledo, Barb was a 1949 graduate of DeVilbiss High School and a 1953 graduate of Miami University where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. Barb's love for children guided her to become the director and teacher at Olivet Nursery School for 25 years. She volunteered at the Toledo Museum of Art and Flower Hospital for over 30 years, was an active member of Sylvania United Church of Christ where she also taught Sunday School, and was an avid tennis player. Barb is survived by her children, daughter, Heidi Strantz, of Awendaw, SC; son, Gregory (Harriett) Walker, of Goose Creek, SC; son, David (Karin) Walker, of Sylvania, OH and daughter, Laura (Robert) Bierer, of Wake Forest, NC; grandchildren, Dana and Andrea Strantz, Heather and Kalin Walker, Daniel, Austin, and Jameson Walker, and Hans and Caroline Bierer; brother, Dr. Richard (Jean) Burns; sisters-in-law, Jill (Deak) Spellman and Jean Powers and special friends, Lauralee Bellg, Pat Brunner, and Eldonna Cox. She was preceded in death by husband, James G. Walker and her parents, Frank and Marian Burns. The family will receive friends on Friday, from 3-8:00 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue (west of Corey Rd.). Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Sylvania United Church of Christ, 7240 Erie Street, Sylvania with interment following at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
