PLAINVILLE - Michael Louis Zommer, of Plainville, passed away at home on Monday, May 20, 2013, at the age of 49, surrounded by his loving family. He fought a courageous four year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), with profound fortitude and integrity. He was married 27 years to Maureen (Moore), and together they raised three children, Michael, Jessica and Melissa, who survive their father. Michael devoted his life to his family, including his parents, Michael and Linda Zommer, of Southington.
The Guest Book is expired.
He was born in New Britain on Jan. 26, 1964, and graduated from Southington High School in 1982. He was an officer of Waste Material Trucking Company and property manager of Southgate Apartments, both Zommer family businesses. He found joy in simple times, fishing in Lake Winnipesaukee, cooking for his family, and being a Red Sox fan.
Michael is also survived by his three siblings, Michele Zommer, of Southbury, Melinda Zommer, of Southington, and Mark Zommer, of Farmington; and his mother in-law, Vivian Moore, of Southington; brothers-in-law, John Moore, of New York and Jim Moore, of California; a sister-in-law, Mary Grouten, of Farmington; as well as 13 nieces and nephews who range from age one through 27. His friends and family will treasure the memories of Michael's humor, spirit and gentle ways - and will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Helen Zommer; and his maternal grandmother, Irene Sandino, whom he cherished.

Main St. to St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Road for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery.
