WALLINGFORD - Norma J. Rowell Wendt, 78, of Wallingford, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles A. Wendt Jr.

She was born in Winfield, Louisiana, Aug. 29, 1934, a daughter of the late Huey Dale and Merna Vae Norman Rowell. She was the secretary of Rowe Machine Inc. in Wallingford where she worked with her family.
She is survived by her two sons, Charles Wendt III and his wife, Audrey, and Ronald Wendt, all of South Meriden; her daughter, Lori Podlisny and her husband, Michael, of Wallingford; her grandchildren, Krista Wendt, Brandon Podlisny, Morgan Podlisny, Breanna McCarthy, Alison Mejias and her husband, Wilfred, and Lindsey Karsmarski; great-grandchildren, Maddox Mejias, Mason Mejias and Camden Harris; her siblings and their spouses, Jimmy and Debbie Rowell, Becky Joyce Garner, Johnny and Betty Rowell, Terry and Marcy Rowell and Cindy and Terry Bedgood, all of Louisiana; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Lavora Ann Rowell, Wanda Gail Morgan, Vera Sue Baxter and Billy David Rowell.
Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 9 until 10:45 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in the State Veterans' Cemetery in Middletown. Gifts in her memory may be sent to Franciscan Home Care, 267 Finch Ave., Meriden, CT 06451.
