MERIDEN - Raymond G. Owsianik, 92, husband of Elsie Robichaud Owsianik, died peacefully on Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at the Vitas Hospice at St Mary's Hospital after a long illness. He was predeceased by his first wife, Julia Rybak.

Born on May 13, 1921, in Meriden, he was the son of the late Charles and Antoinette (Noworolnik) Owsianik. He was a lifelong Meriden resident and graduated from Meriden High School. Mr Owsianik was employed by International Silver Company. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with U.S. Navy. He was a parishioner of St Rose of Lima church. Mr Owsianik enjoyed golf and carpentry. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and UConn Women Huskies fan.

Besides his wife Elsie, he is survived by four daughters, Patricia DeAngelis and her fiance, John Simone, of California, Judith Callahan and her husband, Brian, of Southington, Linda Owsianik and her fiancé, Rich Martin, of Meriden and Barbara Robichaud and her husband, Steve, of Meriden; eight grandchildren, Daria Ruark , Lisa Montoya and Tracie Salim, all of California, Kelly Nichols and Colleen Saucier, both of Southington, Brian Callahan, of New York and Matthew Robichaud, of Griswold and Danielle Robichaud, of Salt Lake City, Utah; twelve great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Jillian, Elyse, Raymond, Shannon, Zachary, Matthew, Julie, Ayla, Malia, Grant and Sarah. He was predeceased by three brothers, Ed, Joe and Frank; and a sister, Wanda.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, Aug. 16, at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.

Mr. Owsianik's family would like to express thanks for the loving care given by the Vitas nurses and staff.
