WALLINGFORD - Rosario ""Rosie"" Piazza, 91, of Wallingford, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He was the beloved husband of 67 years of Louise Theresa Veno Piazza.

Born in Wallingford, Aug. 12, 1921, a son of the late Samuel Piazza, Sr., and the late Margaret Giaccone Piazza, he was a lifelong Wallingford resident. He was a 1939 graduate of Lyman Hall High School and a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army Air Force. He had been employed as a tool maker for Quantum Inc., for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Libero Pensiero Society and had been a member of the Wallingford Democratic Town Committee. He had been a coach and vice president of the Wallingford Little League and was a cub scout leader along with his wife Louise. He was an avid fisherman and gardener and fan of the New York Yankees and UConn women's basketball.
Besides his wife Louise, he is survived by his daughter, Gail M. Onorato ,of New York City, N.Y.; his son, Ronald P. Piazza, of Wallingford; his granddaughters, Julia L. Onorato and Andrea R. Onorato, both of New York City, N.Y.; his brother, Samuel Piazza, Jr., of Wallingford; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Carolyn Piazza; and his brother, Joseph Piazza.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services and Interment with military honors in St. John Cemetery will be private.
