WEST AMWELL - Alan R. Durborow, 62, of West Amwell, died on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township.
Born in Doylestown, Pa., Al was a lifelong resident of the Lambertville-West Amwell area. He was boiler operator at Bristol Myers Squibb in Pennington since 2002. Earlier he worked for Lucent Technologies in Hopewell and the Trenton Board of Education. As a young man he worked side by side as a mason with his father. Al was a veteran of the U.S. Navy
and served in the Vietnam War
. He graduated from South Hunterdon Regional High School in 1969 and was a 50-year-member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lambertville. He enjoyed fishing and boating, but more than anything he was deeply devoted to his family and treasured his time with them.
He was the beloved husband of Patricia E. McGowan Durborow for 39 years. He is also survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Alan R. Durborow, Jr. and Patrick J. and Erin Durborow and his grandson Ashton T. Durborow, all of Lambertville; his mother, Marjorie D. Ewing of Port Charlotte, Fla.; his mother-in-law, Honora E. McGowan of Lambertville; his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Paul Sigafoos of Calabash, N.C.; his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Janet Durborow of East Amwell; his brother-in-law and his wife, Frank and Lorrie McGough of Lambertville; and his several loved nieces and nephews. Al was predeceased by his father, Raymond L. Durborow, his stepfather, Jonathan Ewing, his paternal grandparents, Cora and John Durborow and his maternal grandparents, Oscar and Helen Lear.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 15, at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Lambertville, 31 N. Union St., Lambertville, NJ 08530. There will be calling hours at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the start of services.
