Barbara J. Friel

HAMILTON - Barbara J. Olex Friel, 57, of Hamilton, passed away on Monday at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.
Born in Trenton and raised in Groveville, Barbara was a lifelong Trenton/Hamilton area resident. She was a graduate of Steinert High School, class of 1973, then attending Helene Fuld School of Nursing. Barbara also received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Philadelphia University. She worked for Helene Fuld and later Capital Health Systems Fuld and Mercer Campus where she retired after 35 years of service. In her spare time Barbara was an avid reader, and also enjoyed spending time in Cape May and Captiva Island in Florida.
Daughter of the late William Olex, she is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Joseph L. Friel, Jr.; her three children, Rebecca Clugsten and husband Chris, Joseph Friel III and his wife Kelly, and Rachel Friel and her companion Christopher Samonski all of Hamilton; her loving mother, Charlotte Olex of Groveville; one brother, William Olex, Jr. and his wife Sandy of Ashville, N.C.; two sisters, Mary Jane Olex of Groveville, and Cindy Leclerc and her husband Tim of Richmond, Va.; one granddaughter, Hannah Clugsten; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday (Mar. 9) from the Buklad Yardville Memorial Chapel, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road, Yardville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent DePaul Church. Relatives and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the memorial chapel.
