TRENTON - Beatrice Roberta Adams Jones was born to the late Estella and Samuel Adams in Eldorado, Ark. on October 29, 1908. She was the first girl of 17 brothers and sisters. Mother Jones died March 1, 2014, at Water's Edge Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 105.
Mother Jones grew up in Tulsa, Okla., and married Elder F.J. Jones of Fardyce, Ark. on January 3, 1926, she accepted Christ as her personal savior. She was devout and steadfast in her walk with God. In 1943 she moved to Trenton, where she became very active in the Church of God In Christ, serving in various positions under the leadership of the late Elder F. McKey, the late Bishop Esau Courtney and Elder Esau Courtney Jr. She served on the state level as head of the nurse's department and locally as church secretary for over 30 years. Mother Jones worked for the Trenton Psychiatric Hospital and retired after many years of service as a human service technician.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her nieces, Dorothy (Charles) Dyett of Baltimore, Md. and Bertola McDavis of Detroit, Mich.; nephews, Charles (Dorothy) Thompson of Freemont, Calif., Robert (Ernestine) Thompson of Oakland, Calif., great- and grandnieces and nephews, her Courtney Temple family and other friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 6, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Courtney Temple C.O.G.I.C., 740 Pennington Ave., Trenton. The viewing will be at 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton. Arrangements are by Anderson Funeral Services.
