Bertha V. Winiarski Szeliga

TRENTON - Bertha V. Bugaj Winiarski Szeliga, 105, of Trenton, died peacefully Tuesday at the St. Joseph's Residence at Morris Hall, Lawrenceville, with her two beloved nieces at her side.
Born in Trenton Mrs. Szeliga was a lifelong North Trenton resident. She operated Szeliga's Catering with her husband for many years in North Trenton. During the 1940s Bertha owned the White Tavern Diner on Princeton and North Olden avenues. She was a member of the St. Hedwig's Rosarians, Group 1; the Catholic War Veterans, Holy Cross Post 417, Ladies Auxilliary; the Union of Polish Women of America Group 22; past president of the Polish Falconettes, Nest 59, where she was president for 13 years and the Lipinski Center Seniors.
Daughter of the late Anthony and Marianna Prusaczyk Bugaj, wife of the late John Winiarski and John Szeliga, mother of the late Albert Winiarski, sister of the late Stella Pijanowski, Josephine Dougherty, John Bugaj, Victoria Gudebski, Leonard Bugaj, Helen Dembinski and Rose Krol, she is survived by her stepdaughter and husband, Blanche and Eugene Wierzbinski of Trenton; her daughter-in-law, Mary Browder of Las Vegas, Nev.; her two caring, special nieces, Genevieve and Alexander Spring of Ewing Township, Rita Gudebski of Hamilton Township; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday from the Winowicz Funeral Chapel, 865 Brunswick Ave., Trenton. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Hedwig's Church with the Rev. Dr. Jacek W. Labinski presiding. Burial will be in Holly Cross Cemetery, Hamilton Township. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral chapel. The Rosary will be recited Thursday at 7 p.m.
