Dorothy Ann "Dot" Rapciewicz Burns

Dorothy "Dot" Ann Rapciewicz Burns, 83, of Hamilton passed away peacefully, at home, on Wednesday, June 12,2013 with her loving children by her side. Born in Trenton on March 3, 1930, she was a lifelong resident of the Trenton / Hamilton area. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1948, where she was the Queen of the Senior Ball. Dorothy had various jobs including working in the Mercer County Community College bookstore for several years. She was a member of St. Raphael's / Holy Angels Parish and a member of St. Raphael's Alter Rosary Society. Dorothy was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. An excellent cook, she made many Polish and Irish dishes for her family and friends and will always be remembered for her Friday night homemade pizza. She also enjoyed sharing her recipes with her daughter-in-law Colette, as well as baking Christmas cookies every year with her and her granddaughter. She also loved reading, caring for her cherished shih tzu, Buttons, and occasional trips to Atlantic City with her late Aunt Valerie.
Daughter of the late Stanley and Florence Czyzewski Rapciewicz, sister of the late Edward A. Rapciewicz, Sr. and Stella Rapciewicz Quinlan, and wife of the late James Francis Burns, Sr., who passed away in July of 2000, she is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law; James Francis, Jr. and Colette Burns; Patrick Stanley Burns; with whom she resided, and Michael Robert and Bernadette Burns; all of Hamilton. She was loving grandmother and affectionately known as "Mom-mom" to her grandchildren; James F., III; of South Jersey, and Aimee; Gregory; Christopher and Erin Burns; all of Hamilton. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law; Marietta Rapciewicz; of Trenton and Jean Burns; of Hamilton, many nieces, nephews and cousins and her special caregiver Nancy Balences.
Funeral service will be Tuesday (June 18) at 10:30 a.m. from Kingston & Kemp Funeral Home, 260 White Horse Ave., Hamilton ( Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Raphael's Church, 3500 S. Broad St., Hamilton. Committal will follow at Greenwood Cemetery Mausoleum where she will be entombed next to her loving late husband. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 9-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
