Edward H. Vickner Jr.

EWING - Edward H. Vickner, Jr., Ed.D., 69, of Ewing, died suddenly on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at his home.
Born in Trenton, Mr. Vickner was a lifelong Trenton and Ewing resident. He received his Doctorate in Education from Temple University in 1973. He retired in 2011 after 41 years service as a Professor of Chemistry at Gloucester County College, Sewell. After retirement he was currently a part-time faculty member of The College of New Jersey, Department of Chemistry. He was a member of the Delaware Valley Ham Radio Association (DVRA) in West Trenton for more than 50 years, and a member of the Citizen Rifle and Revolver Club of West Windsor. Ed was a past member of the Ewing Township Board of Education. He enjoyed doing handiwork around the house, working on projects made from wood to electrical, and tending his lawn.
Son of the late Edward H., Sr. and Helen Turek Vickner, he is survived by his loving wife, Donna M. Sampson Vickner of Ewing; his two beloved sons and a daughter-in-law, Steven E. and Gina Vickner of Bridgewater, Michael S. Vickner of San Francisco, Calif.; his three cherished granddaughters, Abigail Rose, Grace Anne and Molly Elizabeth.
Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, with Monsignor R. Vincent Gartland presiding. Burial will be in St. Hedwig Cemetery, Hamilton. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Winowicz Funeral Chapel, 865 Brunswick Ave., North Trenton. Additional calling hours are from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday in the Daily Chapel of the Church of St. Ann with a Blessing Prayer Service at 10:15 a.m. in the Daily Chapel.
