PENNINGTON - Edwin John Usko, 86, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013, at St. Francis Medical Center. Born in McKeesport, Pa., he resided in the Pennington area for 53 years. He was chief engineer of power plant operations for 28 years at General Motors
, Ewing. After retiring from General Motors he was chief engineer for the State of New Jersey Psychiatric Hospital. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marine service in World War II
in the North Atlantic and Middle East receiving medals for these campaigns. He was a lifetime member of Trenton Elks No. 105, belonged to the Hungarian Club, was a longtime member of the Engineers Club of Trenton and General Motors Retirees Club. He was an avid fisherman, played golf, and bowled in leagues for many years. He played many musical instruments. He was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Pennington for 53 years and belonged to the Seniors Club.
Son of the late Edwin J. and Rosella Usko, he is survived by his wife, Marjorie Dawn McDonald Usko of 64 years; a son, Brian Usko of Pennington; a daughter, Donna Moore of California; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Jean Usko of Florida; a niece, Mandy and nephew, Bruce McDonald of South Africa; many cousins in Arizona and California.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 13, at 11 a.m. at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 115 East Delaware Ave., Pennington. The interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery Mausoleum, Hamilton. Friends may call Thursday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, 2560 Pennington Road, Pennington.
