FREEHOLD - Florence D. Abate, 82, of Freehold Township, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold.
Born in Trenton, she had been a resident of Ewing Township for many years before moving to Freehold Township. Florence retired in 1986 from General Motors in Ewing, after 36 years of service. She also worked as an Avon representative for 41 years and enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and Parx Casino. Florence loved being with her family and was a loving wife and mother.
Daughter of the late Ralph and Theresa Martino Cardone, she was predeceased by eight siblings, Elsie Ronca, Robert, Frank, Ralph Jr., William and John Cardone, Lena Zapicchi and Mary Zalenza, she is survived by her husband of 44 years, Daniel Abate; her children, Janice, Joe and Michael Chisano; her stepchildren, Joann Rosa, Danny Abate Jr., Debbie Godown and Tina McNellis; a brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Margaret Cardone; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Gloria and Sylvester Festa and Lillian Niwore; a sister-in-law, Gloria Cardone; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday (July 18) at St. John's Church, 1282 Yardville Road, Allentown. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown.
