COLUMBUS - Giacomo P. "Jack" Filippi, Sr., 84, of Columbus, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Nanticoke, Pa., he was a Yardville resident for 42 years and resided in Columbus for the past 10 years. He retired in 1990 as a blast furnace operator with Fairless Steel Works, Fairless, Pa. He was a World War II U.S. Navy
veteran and served aboard the USS Ranger in the Phillipines. He was a member of St. Raphael's / Holy Angel's Parish and a former member of the Hamilton Elks and the Italian American Sportsman's Club.
Son of the late Luigi and Rosina Cipriani Filippi and brother of the late Patricia and Samuel Granteed, he is survived by his wife of 54 years Bernadine Pollock Filippi; and his children, Susan and Philip Smith of Las Vegas, Nev., Debbie and David Adamski of Nanticoke, Pa., Jessie and Tom Falconio of Hamilton, Tina Grieb of Yardville, Michele Ranieri of Florence, Giacomo "Jack", Jr. and Donna Filippi of Hamilton and Denise and Carl Atanasovski of Little Egg Harbor; his grandchildren, Douglas and Randi Smith, David and Jamie Adamski, Jami and TJ Falconio, Nicole and Nicholas Ranieri, and Jaxon and Mason Filippi; four great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 16) at St. Raphael's Church, 3500 S. Broad St., Hamilton. Cremation was private. There will be no calling hours.
