HAMILTON - Joan B. Phares, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully on Sunday surrounded by her loving family and to be reunited with the love of her life, Wally, in heaven.
Joan was born and raised in Trenton and lived in Cream Ridge for several years before moving to Hamilton. She was a graduate of Trenton Central High School, class of 1953, and Mercer Hospital School of Nursing. As a nurse for 35 years at the former Mercer Hospital, she loved working as head nurse in the labor and delivery room assisting in the births of many newborn infants. Joan was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling and seeing the world with her late husband, Wally, but her favorite place was the "Jersey Shore."
Joan was predeceased by her parents, John and Gladys Klein, and her loving husband, Wallace Phares. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Paul Onorati with whom she resided; her son and daughter-in-law, Wallace and Brandy Phares; her grandchildren, Paul, Cory, Jenny Onorati and Rachel Schaefer and husband Pete, Lisa and Samantha Phares; her sister, Nancy Raines; and her cousin, Louise Gaudagno and husband Maury. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Allentown Presbyterian Church, 20 High St. (Route 539), Allentown. Burial will be private. There will be no calling hours.
