John Henry Hemingway

TRENTON - John Henry Hemingway "Sonny", 88, of Trenton, departed this life on Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Capitol Health Regional Medical Center.
Born in Wampee, S.C., Mr. Hemingway was a resident of Trenton for most of his life. He was educated in the Poplar Community School. He was a subcontractor with Laborers' Local No.369 for more than 50 years. He was a former member of Friendship Baptist Church and later moved his membership to the New Holy Cross Church of Christ Written in Heaven.
Predeceased by his parents, Joseph Hemingway and Iola McCray, children, Johnny Lee, John, Jr., Anthony, Dedra Marie and Rosemary Hemingway, and a special friend, Hannah Livingston, surviving are his former wife, Earleen Vereen-Hemingway; sons, Dennis Vereen (Tonya), Roney Hemingway (Marie Bennett Hemingway) and Frederick Hemingway; daughters, Lee Morris Jones (Gordon), Linda Hardwick (Sam) and Sandra Lean Hemingway; 19 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 29, at Holy Cross Church of Christ Written In Heaven, 500 E. State St., Trenton. Interment will be in Ewing Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are by Campbell Funeral Chapel, Trenton.
