John P. Wereski

LAWRENCE - John P. Wereski, 82, of Lawrence Township, died Friday at the Lawrenceville Nursing and Rehab Center. Born in Trenton, Mr. Wereski was a lifelong Trenton and Lawrenceville resident. He retired from General Motors, Inland Fisher Guide plant. He enjoyed his trips to the Jersey shore, especially Atlantic City, as well as his travels in the U.S. to visit family and go on the parish and local senior groups' bus trips. John was known for his hat collection of all shapes and sizes that he enjoyed wearing. John was easy to talk to and hold a conversation with and was known for his unique sense of humor and quick wit. He also enjoyed spending time at his summer home in the Poconos. He was an animal lover.
Son of the late Antoni and Anna Niemiecski Wereski, he is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary A. Kreipovich Wereski; two stepdaughters, Lorraine L. Marra of Kerrville, Texas and Evelyn A. Cann of Levittown, Pa; his brother and sister-in-law, Edward J. and Kathryn M. Wereski of Hamilton Township; his niece, Kathleen Wereski of Robbinsville; several cousins and many friends, and his faithful companion, Pearl.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Winowicz Funeral Home, Adeline and Beatty streets, Trenton, with the Rev. Fr. Charles Griffiths, Pastor of Divine Mercy-Holy Cross Church, officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hamilton Township. Calling hours will be from noon to 1 p.m. (time of service) at the funeral home.
Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, are to be made to Animals in Distress, 102 Winding Way, Trenton, NJ 08620.
