Lewis C. Shinkle Sr.

HAMILTON - Lewis C. Shinkle Sr., 89, of Yardville, passed away July 1, 2013, at Arcadia Nursing Center.
Mr. Shinkle was born in Morrisville, Pa. He was raised in Trenton and attended the Trenton public schools. Mr. Shinkle had resided in Yardville since 1960. A member of Memorial Baptist Church, and a retired employee of American Standard, he was a member and past president of International Brotherhood of Pottery and Allied Workers, Local 175. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a sergeant, he served in the Pacific Theater on the island of Tinian. In the 1940s and 50s Lewis played fastpitch softball, and baseball on various semi-pro teams in the Trenton area, and also coached the American Standard Teams. He was inducted into the Trenton Softball-Baseball Hall of Fame in 1986.
Son of the late, Charles and Mabel Shinkle, surviving are his wife, Rose Sarrio Shinkle; son and daughter-in-law, Lewis C. Shinkle Jr. and Kimberly A. Shinkle of Hamilton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ellen and Leo Fox of Yardville and Dorothy and Ray Komperda of Arizona; his second son, Chuck Stanley of Hamilton; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved Golden Retrievers.
Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Monday, July 8, at Knott's Colonial Funeral Home, 2946 S. Broad St., Trenton, NJ 08610, the Reverend April Van Ness will officiate. Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 8, at the funeral home.
