Louis C. Coleman(1929 - 2014)

MATAWAN - Louis C. Coleman, 84, of Matawan, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Victoria Healthcare.
Born in Virginia he was a longtime Allentown area resident. A U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War, Louis was a talented singer, performing on various stages including "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson," "The Nat King Cole Show" as well as many area colleges including Rider College, Trenton State College and Rutgers University. Louis retired from Global Security and worked as a horse trainer for Showplace Farms in Millstone. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, was active in local veterans' organizations and was an avid harmonica player.
Son of the late Thomas and Lucille Coleman, he is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sylvia Brannon Coleman; his son, Raymond Coleman and his fiancée Trina Davis of Trenton; a brother, Ernest Coleman of Bordentown; a sister, Ida Bell Hamilton of Willingboro; two grandsons, Raymond Rhoads of Yardville and Elijah Fields of Trenton; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, February 6 at Peppler Funeral Home, 114 So. Main St., Allentown. Interment will follow in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Arneytown. Friends may call Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
