Margaret Sylvia Bloom

Margaret Sylvia Bloom, 95, died after a brief illness on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Genesis Healthcare Southern Ocean Center.
She was born on December 5, 1917 in White Horse, N.J. to John J. and Jane (Behan) Schmitt. She graduated from Hamilton High School in 1936 and attended Rider College. She married Walter W. Bloom in 1942 and enjoyed 51 loving years until his passing on April 5, 1994. They lived in Trenton, N.J. for 39 years before moving to Beach Haven in 1981. Margaret was a homemaker who in her earlier years worked for nearly 25 years at Sears, Roebuck and Co. in Trenton.
Margaret was a communicant of St. Francis Parish in Brant Beach, N.J. Her faith was her source of strength and comfort throughout life and her compass for living life. Until her early nineties, she was known for her two-mile walks every other day. Her kind and gentle spirit and love of life endeared her to her many friends.
In addition to her husband, Walter, she is preceded in death by her sister, Miriam Faultum and her brother, Dr. John B. Schmitt, Sr. She is survived by her niece, Florence Klancer and husband Harry, her nephew, John Schmitt and wife Ann, her niece, Miriam Bajzath and husband James, and nephew, Frank Faultum and wife Christine.
Viewing hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, 12th Street & Long Beach Boulevard, Ship Bottom, N.J. Services will be held on Friday, July 26 at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas, Second Street & Atlantic Avenue, Beach Haven, N.J. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Ewing Church Cemetery, Ewing, N.J.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the General Fund at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 4700 Long Beach Blvd., Brant Beach, NJ 08008.
