LAMBERTVILLE - Maria Lopez, age 88, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at the Hunterdon Care Center in Flemington, where she had lived for the past five years.
Born in Cidra, Puerto Rico, she moved to Lambertville in 1953 where she lived until moving to Flemington in 2007.
Maria was primarily a homemaker and focused on her years of raising her four children and spending time with family. She was a longtime member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Lambertville.
She was predeceased by her husband, Julio Lopez Sr., her grandson, Adam Lopez, her son, Luis Lopez, her brother, Antonio Rolon and her sister, Carmen. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Olga and Stacy Rose of Lambertville, her son, Jose Lopez of Plainsboro, her son and daughter-in-law, Julio and Nadine Lopez of Lambertville, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 16, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 44 Bridge St., Lambertville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Garefino Funeral Home, 12 N. Franklin St., Route 179, Lambertville.
