Marian Farina Helms

Marian Farina-Helms HAMILTON - Marian Farina- Helms, 88, of Hamilton passed away Saturday, November 23, at Hamilton Grove Nursing Center, Hamilton. Born in Trenton, NJ, Marian was a life-long area resident. She was a 1944 Graduate of Trenton High School and a Fulbright Scholar. Marian, a mezzo-soprano, studied opera under Betsy Culp Dornay of New York and The Spoleto Opera Co. of Italy. She sang at Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Opera, spent 2 years performing as "Mimi" in La Boheme in Florence, Italy and appeared on the Arthur Godfrey Show in 1951. She had worked for ETS in Princeton, was a member of the Hamilton Senior Center and enjoyed visits to Atlantic City. Pre-deceased by her husband Harold "Bud" Helms, her parents Salvatore "Samuel" Farina and Santa Plumeri-Farina and her brothers Blacey Farina and Charles A. Farina, she is survived by her brother Samuel Farina, sister-in-law Jean Farina, her stepchildren Thomas Helms and Carla Tritapoe, her nieces and nephews Charles and Irene Farina, Robert and Carol Farina and Laura Farina and several cousins. Funeral service will be Saturday, November 30, at 10 AM at Kingston & Kemp Funeral Home, 260 White Horse Ave., Hamilton ( ). Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, 1200 Cedar Lane, Hamilton. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 to 10 AM at the funeral home.
