Matthew Thomas Wallace

WESTAMPTON - Matthew Thomas Wallace, 39, of Westampton, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013.
Born and raised in Ewing, Matt played soccer for the West End Soccer Association and continued to play for the travel team until age 18. He also played basketball and soccer in Ewing Recreational Leagues. Matt was a graduate of Ewing High School, class of 1992, where he was on the varsity baseball and soccer teams. After graduation he was involved in coaching various soccer teams in Ewing and recently coached his daughter's soccer team. Matt later attended Mercer County Community College and majored in Criminal Justice. After college, Matt was hired by the Mercer County Sheriff's Office and graduated from the Trenton Police Academy in August 1999; he was then hired by the Ewing Police Department. During his 14 years with the Ewing Police Department, Matt received numerous awards and commendations, including several Chief Commendations Awards and an Exceptional Duty Medal. Along with his patrol duties, he was a certified telecommunications operator and a certified Alcotest Operator.
Matthew is survived by his wife, Christina; two daughters, Alexis and Madison; father and stepmother, William T. and Kathy Wallace of Lawrenceville; his mother and stepfather, Cynthia and Rod Pearce of Ohio; brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Nadine Wallace of Charlotte, N.C.; stepsister, Christina Jones of Florida; also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 until 7 p.m. with funeral services officiated by Fr. Robert Haller of Trinity Episcopal Church of Vincentown beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the M.
