Oscar Brooks Jr. TRENTON - Oscar Brooks Jr., Son of the late Oscar Brooks Sr. was born June 19th 1936. He was educated in the Trenton public school system; he graduated in 1955. Oscar served in the Air National Guard. Obtaining an associate's degree from Mercer County Community College, Oscar continued his pursuit of education by completing his bachelors and master's degree from Rider University with honors. He then attended Duke University and Temple University of Law School specializing in Public Administration. During his earlier career, he was employed by the State of New Jersey; first with the Department of Labor and Industry, and later with the Department of Personnel. Along with Dr. Paul T. Williams and Sonny Vereen, Oscar was one of the founders of the Trenton Health Center; now known as The Henry J. Austin Center. With life notable achievements, Oscar was an advisor to the Mercer County Juvenile Court System. He was a board member of the Mercer County Legal Aid Society and served on the Model Cities Policy Committee. He was a member of the North Trenton Community Center and the Educational Advocacy. He is predeceased by his parents Oscar Brooks Sr. and Della Myers, Ida McCrae and Norma Brooks (sisters), Ernest Brooks (brother), and his first wife Alice Cooks, his daughter Denise Beckett, Ronald Brooks (son), and Reggie Dash-Harrison (Stepson). He is survived by his wife Lois Dash-Brooks, Michael Brooks (son), Sharon Brooks-Wooding (daughter), Angel Dash-Harrison (stepdaughter), Rachelle-Williams Reyes, and his three adopted sons Alejandro Reyes, Brian and Jason Williams, fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral service will be 1pm Friday May 30, 2014 at St. Marks Baptist Church, 545 Lakehurst Rd., Browns Mills, NJ. Calling hours will be 10am until time of service at the church. Interment will be 10am Mon June 2, 2014 at the Ewing Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Hughes Funeral Home.
