Reginald Lamont (Harrison) Dash

Reginald Lamont Dash (Harrison), 54, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the University of Princeton Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Trenton, he was educated in the Trenton Public School System. His first acting performance took place at Princeton Day School during a summer program around age 12. Affectionately known as "Doc" because of many honors bestowed upon him for his unique skills on drums & percussions; although he played every instrument. He began his musical career at an early age & was a member of local bands which included The Disciples & Radiation. As his popularity increased, he began touring with a variety of well-known groups & entertainers such as his aunt Sarah Dash, Patti LaBelle, late Joe Frazier, Phyllis Hyman and other groups such as "Blue Eyes" whose venues were shared with numerous celebrities such Bruces' Willis and Springsteen. He toured with the gospel group "Pilgrim Wonders" along with his friend and spiritual mentor Reverend Charles "Guitar Slim" Schantz who is famous for writing the blues favorite "Route 66". At the time of his death, he was working more close –to-home in the Poconos, New York, and New Jersey with Twisted sister guitarist and also did many studio sessions.
Reggie was employed by Prince Manufacturers and General Motors. He was a member of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan and Trenton Church of Christ. He was an active member of the "Actor's Union" and "Music Cares".
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife; Joy Dash; of Grand Rapids, MI; seven sons; Bakim (Tennille) Garner; and Hondo Reyes; of Trenton, Antwan and Anthony (Kelly) Dash; of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; Benjamin (Jennifer) Draw - Dash; and Anthony Draw – Dash; of Grand Rapids, MI; four daughters; Rachelle (Andre) Williams; and Pesha Garner; of Trenton, Shakela and Samira (Nathan) Draw-Giradin; of Grand Rapids, MI. His loving parents; Ivan Harrison; of Michigan and Lois Helen Dash (Oscar) Brooks; of Brown Mills, three sisters; Angel Harrison; of Grand Rapids; Lori Harrison; of Michigan; Sharon (Chucky) Brooks – Woodard; of Lawrenceville, four brothers; David and Dana Rosen; Aaron Monrico Harrison; of Detroit, MI; Michael Brooks and Ron Taylor; of Trenton,18 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday (Dec. 10) at Shiloh Baptist Church, 340 Reverend S. Howard Woodson Jr. Way, Trenton NJ. Calling hours will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church. Interment Ewing Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Hughes Funeral Home.
