Richard Wilson, 40, died on Friday, February 22, 2013 at home.
Born in Myrtle Beach, SC, he was a graduate of West Side High School in Newark. He formerly lived in Plainfield, before relocating to Trenton 13 years ago. He was employed as a mail carrier by the U.S. Postal Service.
He inducted in the U.S. Army in 1992 and served during the Persian Gulf War. He was awarded the Army Lapel Button, Army Good Conduct and National Defense Service Medals, Army Service and Overseas Service Ribbons and the Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar, and was honorably discharged in 1995. Mr. Wilson was a faithful member of Mason Memorial Church of God in Christ where he served as church sexton.
Predeceased by his father, Edward Deloach, he is survived by his wife; Charnette J. Wilson; of Trenton; one son; Troi J. Smith and three daughters; Jalissa Turner; Daisha Wilson and Seaniyah Smith; all of Ewing; his mother; Eve Wilson; of Orange; nine sisters; Amanda; Debbie and Tara Wilson; all of Orange, Karen Wilson; of Ewing, Pamela Wilson; of East Orange, Sandra Wilson; of Newark, Esther Jean-Asare (Daniel) and Lea Jean; all of Irvington and Deborah Jean; of Union; two Brothers; David Jean; of Irvington and Daniel Jean; of Haledon, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Viewing services will be tonight Friday (Mar. 1) from 7-9 p.m. at Mason Memorial Church of God in Christ, 56 Fountain Ave. Bishop Martin L. Johnson officiating. Funeral services will be held on Saturday (Mar. 2) at 10 a.m. at the church. Entombment will be at Greenwood Cemetery Mausoleum, Hamilton Township, NJ.
