Salvatore D. "Sam" Lipira, 83, of Lawrenceville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 in Capital Health Medical Center-Hopewell, Hopewell, with his loving family by his side. Born in Trenton, he resided in Lawrenceville, for the past forty-eight years.
Mr. Lipira retired in 1991 after forty-three years from the State of New Jersey, Department of Community Affairs, Trenton, New Jersey. He was an artist, a sculptor, an active member of the Church of Saint Ann, and loved traveling to Europe, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and his granddaughter.
Son of the late Luciano and Vincenza Grisanti Lipira, brother of the late Dominic Lipira and Bessie Ferranti, he is survived by two sons; Brian K. Lipira and his companion; Helen Canavan; and Brendan K. Lipira; two daughters and sons-in-law; Vincenza and Michael DeCamillis; and Kristine and Lonie Johnson; a granddaughter; Cheyenne Johnson; his nephews; Donald Lipira and his wife Susan; Guy Ferranti and several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
The Funeral will be held on Thursday (Dec. 27) at 8:30 a.m. from the Brenna Funeral Home, 340 Hamilton Avenue, Trenton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. at the Church of Saint Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. Burial will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Hamilton.
Calling hours for family and friends will be on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Brenna Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Church of Saint Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
