EWING - Seymour D. Kaplan, Attorney At Law for 73 years, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012. He was 96 years old.
Born in Passaic, he had been a Trenton area resident all of his life. Mr. Kaplan was educated in the Trenton school system. He was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in three years. He received a U.S. Supreme Court Judge Felix Frankurter Full Scholarship Award and graduated from Harvard Law School in 1939.
He was a partner with his father and later his son in the law firm Joseph D. Kaplan and Son P.C. in Trenton. The law firm started in 1917 and is still active at Hanover and Montgomery streets. Mr. Kaplan was a constant presence at the office until the time of his passing.
Mr. Kaplan was the oldest member of the Mercer County Bar. He was also a member of Adath Israel Congregation, AIPAC, Jewish Federation, and Greenacres Country Club.
Husband of the late Marjorie Albert Kaplan, he is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Signe Kaplan, Richard and Karen Kaplan, Lionel and Gail Kaplan; three grandchildren, E.J. Sadri, Shana Kaplan, Natalie Kaplan and four great-grandchildren
Funeral services are Friday at 11 a.m. at Adath Israel Congregation, 1958 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville. Burial will follow at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park. The period of mourning will be observed at the residence of Lionel and Gail Kaplan.
