TRENTON - Thelma T. Ward, 83, of Trenton, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis.
Born in Trenton, Mrs. Ward was a lifelong resident. She enjoyed being an active member at Union Baptist Church as a member of the Hospitality and Missionary Ministries. She loved to open her home to help others in need. She retired as a cook at Commini's Italian Restaurant.
Predeceased by her husband, Samuel J. Ward, II, a son, Samuel J. Ward, III, three daughters, Tenar and Lizette Ward and Cheryl Ann Taylor, her parents, Jesse Reeves and Carrie Swinson-Reeves, siblings, Ruth Carrie and Jesse Reeves Jr., surviving are two sons, Joaozin "Sonny" Lilha and Larry Taylor (Irene); a daughter, Olivia Ward; her sister, Mary Gilbert (John); five grandchildren, Lauren, Ayanna, Kalila, Takysha and Aman "Buddy" Ward; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 26, at 1 p.m. at Union Baptist Church, 301 Pennington Ave., Trenton. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton. Calling hours will be Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are by Campbell Funeral Chapel, Trenton.
