Betsy Jean Urbaniak Obituary
Betsy Jean Urbaniak SEASIDE PARK - Betsy Jean Urbaniak of Seaside Park, formerly of Trenton, NJ, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014, in Community Hospital, Toms River, NJ. Born December 7, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Elsie Haumann Urbaniak and Eugene T. Urbaniak, a former Deputy State Attorney General. BJ graduated from Douglass College (BA Psychology 1962) and received her Masters Degree from New York University (MA Sociology 1968). BJ worked for the State of New Jersey her entire adult life spending 20 years with the NJ Department of Corrections. She was Assistant Superintendent at Turrell Residential Group Center, Farmingdale, NJ; Acting Director of Youth Reception and Correction Center, Yardville, NJ; and finally, Executive Assistant to the Commissioner until her retirement. She was a former member of the Seaside Park Yacht Club and Trenton Country Club. BJ loved to read, knit, and care for her beloved animals. She is survived by her cousins, Dr. Thomas F. Urbaniak (Barbara) Yardley, PA; Dr. Henry S. Urbaniak, Warren, RI. Other special cousins include Beth Urbaniak, VMD, Kristin Shea, Thomas F. Urbaniak, II, and Karen Anderson. Graveside services will be held 11 am Saturday, January 25 at Ewing Church Cemetery, Scotch Road, Ewing, NJ.
