FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Chuck Pekala, 55, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Ewing, N.J., passed away at Vitas Hospice in Ft. Lauderdale on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012.
Born and raised in Trenton, N.J., he had lived in Ft. Lauderdale since 2004. Chuck was employed by New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company in Ewing for more than 20 years. For the past six years, he has worked for Spirit Airlines. Chuck was a 1975 graduate of Ewing High School.
Son of the late Chester Anthony and Shirley Mary Sneddon Pekala, he is survived by his sister, Phyllis Levondowski Lorinoz of West Trenton, N.J.; his partner, Steve Jordan of Ft. Lauderdale; his nieces, Kimberly Levondowski Cahill and her husband George of West Trenton, N.J., and Stacy Zoda Martorana and her husband Vince of Hamilton, N.J.; great-nephew and -niece, Jake Ryan Cahill and Isabella "Boo-Boo" Martorana; his aunt and uncle, Lois and Robert Barber of Ocala; also many cousins.
The funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Ave., Ewing, N.J. Burial will follow at the Ewing Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Vitas Hospice, 2000 E. Commercial Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33308.
