Demosthenes "Dee" Planas

Obituary Condolences

HAMILTON - Demosthenes "Dee" Planas, 85, of Hamilton, entered into God's care Friday, September 20, 2013. Born in Castle Gate, Utah, he had resided in Robbinsville, since 1970 and for the past eight years was a resident of Hamilton. Mr. Planas was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 148 in Hightstown, The Cretans of Delaware Valley Knossos, and the NRA. He loved his dog, Trouble, enjoyed duck hunting and gardening. He was also an avid crossworder, but most of all he loved his family and spending time with his great- nieces and great-nephews. Dee, as he was known by his family and friends, was co-owner and operator along with his late brothers, Stanley and George, of the Robbinsville Inn for more than 36 years prior to his retirement in 2006.
Son of the late Iakovos and Caliopi (Zouganis) Planas, and brother of the late Stanley and George Planas, he is survived by his brother, Emanuel Planas of Grand Junction, Colo.; his sister-in-law, Celia Planas of Monroe; two nieces, Constance Planas of Monroe and Eileen and her husband John Stellakis of Long Branch; four great-nieces and great-nephews, Vassie, Lee, Stephanie and Stanley; and a great-great-niece, Zoey and a great-great-nephew, Zachary; as well as other family and friends.
Greek Orthodox funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 24, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1200 Klockner Road, Hamilton, with Father James Pavlow officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, 1800 Hamilton Ave., Hamilton. Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Road, Hamilton, NJ 08619. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1200 Klockner Road, Hamilton, NJ 08619.
