TRENTON - Gladys L. Carmichael, age 85, of Trenton, passed away Oct. 1, 2012.
Born in Trenton she was a lifelong resident. She was educated at the Bordentown Manuel Training School and Trenton Central High School. She retired from the State of New Jersey Department of Transportation. Gladys was a faithful member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church and was involved in many organizations of the church, former member of the Bronzettes, member of the Carver Branch Choir "Y", and many other organizations in the community.
Daughter of the late BeLove and Minnie Hall, she was also predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Lennon "Mike" Carmichael, daughter, Karen Carmichael, two sisters, Flossie Laws and Mae Ella Hall, and brother, Marcus Hall.
Gladys is survived by two sons, Leonard and Bruce Carmichael; sister-in-law, Bernice Hall; brother-in-law, William Green; two daughters–in-law, Ann and Gloria Carmichael; seven grandchildren, Monica, Byron, Bryce, Kyle, Michael, Heather, and Leonard Jr., four great grandchildren Bridgett, Kylah, Kaiya, and Quinton, two nieces Linda Pickens and Lorraine Brooks; three nephews, Bobby Fletcher, Mark Green and Richard Green; best friends, Vivian V. Paris-Clark and Milicent Watson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Greater Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, 42 Pennington Ave., Trenton. Calling hours will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church. Interment Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton. Arrangements are by the Hughes Funeral Home, Trenton.
