Obituary Condolences

HAMILTON - Ila Cozette "Cozy" Carter, 59, of Hamilton, departed this life on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.
Born in Cape May Courthouse, she received her education in the Woodbine public school and graduated from Millville High School. She was affectionately known as "Nana" and "Momma Coz."
She retired from the New Jersey Department of Labor after 33 years of service in December 2008.
She was predeceased by her father, Walter Briscoe, foster parents, Herbert and Corrine Hamilton, and a brother, Lamont Briscoe. Surviving are her daughter, Tameka Jefferson; her mother, Joyce Carter; siblings, Charles Carter (Denise), William Carter, Esther Williams, Michael Carter, Scott Carter (Glenda), Andrea Lyles, Kim Carter, Frances Jefferson (Ron), Ava Freeman, Teal Durity (Keith), Tonita Hoe (Daryl); two granddaughters, Tymia and Kamya Jefferson; aunts, Mary Gray and Clara Vereen; an uncle, Gilbert Carter (Ella); best friend, Emma Harrington; goddaughters, Keiya Montgomery and Brianna Davis; a special niece, Nyesha Darrah and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m. at Wayne Avenue Baptist Church, 30 Wayne Ave., Trenton.
Interment will be in Ewing Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are by Campbell Funeral Chapel, Trenton.
