Isabella U. Austell, 94, of Hightstown, N.J., passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Robert Wood Johnson University at Hamilton.
Isabella Urselina March Austell was born Jan. 13, 1919, in St. Catherine, Jamaica, to the now late John and Mabel (Bernard) March. In 1957, Isabella relocated to Manchester, England, where she worked as a seamstress and later lived in London, England, before moving to Brooklyn, N.Y., where she lived for many years. Isabella met David Austell at a wedding in Trenton, N.J. and sometime later they were united in marriage, finally making Hightstown her home. Isabella was a dedicated and loving wife. She was a caring and nurturing person who developed loving and lifelong friendships. For many years she was employed at the Sunnyfield Nursing Home as a certified nurses aide, where she later retired.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Mabel (Bernard) March, and her husband, David Austell. In addition, Isabella was also preceded in death by two sisters, Vera, her oldest sister, and Marion, three brothers, Richard, Raymond and youngest brother Leopold.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her grandson, Michael Austell and his wife Marlo of Burlington, N.J.; a great-granddaughter, Mia Austell of Burlington, N.J.; her dear and special friends, Kathy and Carmine Petito and their children, Anthony, Michael and Lisa all of Robbinsville, N.J.; her niece, Marcia Foster of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and special friend, Jean Touroff of New York, N.Y.; and many dear friends at St. James Village.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday (March 21) at the Glackin/Saul Funeral Home, 136 Morrison Ave., Hightstown, N.J. Interment will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday (March 22) at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hightstown. Family and friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday (March 21) at the Glackin/Saul Funeral Home.
