TRENTON - James A. "Jimmy" McCormick, Jr., 83, died June 10, 2013, at home.
Born in Dillon, S.C., Mr. McCormick was educated in the Dillon public school system. He retired from the City of Trenton Police Department Motor Pool in 1992. He had worked as a mechanic and long distance truck driver for more than 50 years. He was a member of Union Baptist Church for more than 60 years. He was a member of Sons of Solomon Lodge 220 F&AMM.
Predeceased by his parents, James A. McCormick, Sr. and Flirtie Dunson McCormick, a brother, Lonzell McCormick, and a sister, Elizabeth Roberts. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Coletha B. Rawls McCormick; sons, Levi McCormick and daughter-in-law, Delores McCormick and James A. McCormick, III; daughters, Sylvia McDonald and Janet McCormick Booker and son-in-law, George Booker; grandchildren, Walter J. Bittle, Jr., Timothy Bittle, Tanisha Alston, Toby James, James McCormick, IV, Josh McCormick, Alaena Howell; five great-grandchildren; a niece, Bonita Matta; and many cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Union Baptist Church, 301 Pennington Ave., Trenton. Interment will be in Colonial Memorial Park. Calling hours will be Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are by Campbell Funeral Chapel, Trenton.
