Obituary Condolences

HAMILTON - John Keith Wilson was born in Trenton February 8, 1956 to John Henry and Louise Wilson. He departed this life Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Hamilton.
He was a lifetime Hamiltonian and was educated in the Hamilton Township school system, graduating with the class of 1974 from Hamilton High West. To the amazement of many, he excelled in football despite his small physique. He attended Lincoln University, Lincoln, Pa. and continued his education at Rutgers University, Lawrence, in the Rutgers School of Continuing Education Municipal Welfare Directors Certificate Program.
His professional career included Director of Welfare for Hamilton Township, serving as the first African American in that position; Income Maintenance Technician for Mercer County Board of Social Service; Family Self-Sufficiency Specialist for Trenton Housing Authority; and concluded his career of social service as a Program Support Specialist 2 with the Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services with the Department of Human Services, state of New Jersey where he served for 25 years.
Wilson's past professional and community affiliations include member of Alvernia University Parents Association, member of the State of New Jersey Certified Social Worker, president of the Mercer County Municipal Welfare Directors Association and member of the Board of Directors of the John O. Wilson Neighborhood Service Center.
He is survived by his mother, Louise Wilson; former wife Debbie Wilson; children Keonna, Courtney, Tiffany, Nikky and Chantell; two sisters, Laurene (Renie) and Donna; one brother, Craig; one nephew, Justin Wilson Kemp, all of New Jersey; one aunt, Lillian Coleman of Washington, D.C.; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the Saint Phillip Baptist Church, 445 Parkinson Avenue, Hamilton. Calling hours will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church. Dr. Joseph E. Woods, Senior Servant Leader and Pastor, will officiate. Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton. Arrangements are by the Hughes Funeral Home.
