ROBBINSVILLE - John Theodore Berei, 84, of Robbinsville, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2013, at the Elms of Cranbury, in Cranbury.|
Born in Garfield, John lived in and spent most of his adult life there. In 1963, he moved to West Milford after building his own home. He resided in West Milford until 1996, when he moved to New Port Richey, Fla., with his wife, Mary. John enjoyed building model airplanes/gliders and loved dancing and listening to big band music. He was also a pilot and a bowler. Prior to retirement, he spent a great deal of time hunting in North Jersey with his brothers and son.
He was predeceased by his parents, Katherine ((Wisznfelder) and Martin Berei, his wife of 51 years, Mary (Mocsari) Berei, and his siblings, Martin, Steve, Joe, Eddie, Kate, Marie and Helen.
He is survived by a son, John Berei and his wife, Daphne, of Robbinsville, and a daughter, Kim Elston and her husband, Michael Elston, of Basking Ridge; his brother, Albert Berei and his wife, Mildred, who live in West Milford; his sister, Anna Horvath and her husband, Andy, who live in Lodi; his five grandchildren, Matthew Elston, Catherine Berei, Stephen Berei, Melanie Miller and her husband, Stephen Miller, and Christos Philippou; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday (Mar. 4) at Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562. Family and friends may call from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Monday (Mar. 4) at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ 08690.
