Leon F. Thomas TRENTON - Leon F. Thomas. "Skip" as he was affectionately known will forever be remembered in the hearts and minds of all those that loved him. Leon was born on May 28, 1941 to the late Minnie Kate Thomas and Leon Frances Thomas, Sr. He departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the age o 72. Leon attended the Trenton Public School System. He worked as a truck driver for the National Waste Management Company for over forty years and retired in 2006. Mr. Skip, Pop-Pop, as he was known throughout his neighborhood, was a hard-working man of independence, strength and a strong character. A mentor, teacher, friend and surrogate father to many. A great man among men. Leon(Skip) was preceded in death by his first wife Virginia E. Thomas, one sister Patricia Thomas, three brothers Carl, Theodore Thomas and Walter King, four uncles Gabe, Henry, Robert and Alexander Thomas, two aunts Katrina Williams, Carolyn Thomas Fizer his cousin Harry Lee and one granddaughter Andrea Bland.(Bubbles). Leon(Skip) leaves to cherish and celebrate his memory his loving wife Charlene Bland-Thomas, ten children-Leon Scott(China) of Harrisburg, PA, Leslie Thomas Jones(Ski) of Willingboro, NJ, Kime Rhodes(Perry) of Trenton NJ, Kirk(Cynthia), Andre, Juan, Carmen(Millicent), Eric and Jamil Bland all of Trenton and Kifee Dillard(Ebony) also of Trenton. Two adopted sons Salim Davis and Clifford Geddis. Two brothers Carl Cross and William Bronner and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Five special friends Carly Derry, Sam Vallango, Bill Mcallum(Sandy, Milton and Yvone Dixon. Funeral services are being held on Friday, February 14, 2014. The viewing is from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon at the Samaritan Baptist Church, 531 Martine Luther King Blvd., Trenton, NJ 08618.
