Mabel Scott Henley MT. LAUREL - Mabel Scott Henley, 87, of Mt. Laurel, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013 in Mt. Holly, N.J. after a short hospitalization. Mrs. Henley attended Trenton Public Schools and graduated from Trenton Central High School. She received her BA in Home Economics from West Virginia State University, a Certificate of Elementary Education from the College of New Jersey, and a MA in Education from Rowan College. Mrs. Henley retired as a Reading Specialist, from the Trenton School District after 35 years of teaching. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels, the Robert Wood Johnson Information Desk, the Hermitage Library Adult Reading Tutor Program, as an usher at the Trenton War Memorial building, with the Hollowbrook Seniors, the Rutgers Home Economic Council and ECHO, Inc.. She was a long-time member of Trenton Church of Christ, where she served as a secretary of the church, a church usher, a member of the Senior Choir, and the Women's Council. Predeceased by her parents, Melton and Georgia Scott; her husband, Robert Henley; her son, Ronald Melton; and siblings, Lester Scott, Melvin Scott and Gloria S. Turner. Surviving are her son, Donald (Linda) of Wilmington, N.C.; her niece who she thought of as a daughter, Karen Marie Turner of Westampton, N.J.; two grandsons, Marlon of Trenton and Donnell of Greensboro, N.C; a sister-in-law, Mary Scott of Lawrence, N.J.; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of dear friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to World Vision International, the or Meals on Wheels Association of America. Funeral Services will be Monday at 11am at Antioch Church of Christ, 188 Pennington Ave., Trenton, NJ. Interment will be in Ewing Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 9am to 11 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are by Campbell Funeral Chapel, Trenton.
