HAMILTON - Marion Ward Larkin Rooks, 71, of Hamilton Square, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 22, 2013, at Fox Chase Cancer Center surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Trenton, Marion retired as an officer from the Mercer County Sheriff's Department. She was the first female to go through the police academy. She loved the beach, especially spending summers with her family and friends at her home in Cape May.
Predeceased by her parents, Francis and Leah Ward, and her husband, Kenneth Rooks, Marion is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Christie and Brian Bralynski, Lynda and Michael Bodden, Leah Larkin, and Marnie and Seth Castellano; her sister and brother-in-law, Leah and Paul Shwahla; her seven grandchildren, Ryan, Emily, Tess, Austin, Johnny, Haley and Madison; her nephew, Gary Shwahla; her niece, Laura Shwahla; her beloved dogs, Zoey and Chloe; and many extended family and friends.
A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, July 26, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square. Cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marion's memory to Fox Chase Cancer Center, Office of Institutional Advancement, 333 Cottman Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19111.
