EWING - Mary E. (nee Small) Kinney, 55, of Ewing, passed away Wednesday at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Hopewell.
Born in Trenton, Mary was a lifelong area resident.
Mary worked for over 35 years for the State of New Jersey. She began her career as a high school intern with the Department of the Treasury, and finished it in a professional position as the supervisor of the payroll unit at the Motor Vehicle Commission.
Mary took great pride in her work, and enjoyed her job. She valued her family and friends above all else. She enjoyed hosting family events, and was known as a great cook and an excellent baker. Mary was particularly fond of spending time with children of all ages, especially those of family and friends. Over the years, Mary opened her home to her son David's friends, and the family enjoyed their company and friendship. Mary was selfless, always putting her family and friends first, and herself second. She was a caring and kindhearted person, always looking for ways to help others.
Daughter of the late Joseph A. and Elizabeth Kucker Small, daughter-in-law of the late Robert E. and Eleanor Jane Kinney, she is survived by her husband, David F. Kinney, Sr.; her son, David F Kinney, Jr. both of Ewing; her sister, Kathleen (Bob) Liptak of Sharon, Pa.; her brothers, Joseph A. Small Jr. Esq. of Hamilton and John P. (Luanne) Small of St. Augustine, Fla.; sister-in-law, Martha Kinney-Rodriguez of Lawrenceville; brother-in-law, Peter W. Kinney of Seattle, Wash.; nephews, Robert J. (Dana) Liptak, Michael J. (Andrea) Liptak, Joseph A. Small III, Conner Small, Brandon Small, Ryan Small, Evan Small and Juan Rodriguez; great nieces, Jane Liptak and Kathryn Liptak.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church, 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square. The family will receive visitors Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Ave., Ewing, NJ 08618. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Cedar Lane, Hamilton.
