PENNINGTON - Mary E. McGarrity Barrett, of Pennington, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at the home of her daughter in Brick Township.|
Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Barrett retired as an administrative assistant with the New Jersey State Police in West Trenton. A graduate of Trenton High School she attended Trenton State College, she was a member of the Trenton Junior League and was an avid reader and bridge player.
Daughter of the late Arthur and Sadie Connolly McGarrity, wife of the late Richard T. Barrett Sr. and mother of the late Chad Barrett, she is survived by two sons and three daughters-in-law, Richard T. Jr. and Mary W. Barrett of Hartsville, Pa., Michael T. and Siobhan Barrett Newtown, Pa. and Eileen Barrett; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Michael O'Brien of Brick Township, and Lisa and Stephen O'Neill of Ashland, Mass.; 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 12, at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Ave., Ewing. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. James Church, 115 E. Delaware Ave., Pennington, at 10 a.m. Friday, September 13. Burial will follow in Ewing Church Cemetery.
