DOVER, Del. - Matthew "Mac" Leonard, 81, of Dover, passed away on May 10, 2013, at Delaware Hospice Center, in Milford.
Born in Norfolk, Va., on Feb. 29, 1932 to the late Peter and Varana Leonard of Norfolk, Va. He also lived in Trenton, N.J. for 40 years. He attended Norfolk public schools. He served in the United States Army during the
. Mr. Leonard retired as an employee of the Trenton New Jersey School for the Blind.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Aleen Leonard. He is survived by nieces and nephews, Yvonne and Kenneth Mullen of Dover, Vanessa and George Nottingham of Felton, Bianca and Stephan Jackson of Virginia Beach, Va., Byron and Betty Hunter of Virginia Beach, Va. and Cornell Hunter of Norfolk, Va.; also by his special friend, Audrey Keeling of Norfolk, Va.; and a host of great nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a public viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 W. Division St., Dover, DE 19904. The final homegoing service will be at noon, Saturday, May 18, at Hale Funeral Home, 2100 Ballentine Boulevard, Norfolk, Va.
